Aoife O'Callaghan
Bio
Aoife O’Callaghan is a final year student at the National College of Art & Design in Dublin studying Fine Art & Media. She originates from Gorey, Co. Wexford in Ireland. In 2018, she was accepted at Goldsmiths University, London, to study for a BA in Fine Art, but decided to continue her studies in Ireland after studying a portfolio course at Gorey School of Art. Her practice includes video, painting and poetry
The work is a representation of the limitation of language and the missing parts in between. It portrays what is lost in translation of transcribing thoughts and ideas. The video work is a form of digital painting, with considered choice of colours. Similar to painting, the beginning process starts with an image from the imagination. The final stage involves editing multiple non-linear segments of footage into a more immersive coherent piece. Interpretation and meaning of the videos is handed over to the audience.
